Socializing a plus for seniors during kayaking

Seniors in our community are putting their best paddle forward. The Nord-Bridge Seniors Centre is working together with High Level Canoes and Kayaks to bring the activity of kayaking to seniors. Ashley Kern, the program coordinator for the centre, says the social aspect is important for the mature crowd.

“So there’s a couple people that have just retired and they’re getting to know each other just from this group. They’ve never met before, but they right away have something in common just over kayaking, and they both enjoy it. It’s really important to kind of gain new friends and new connections hopefully for years to come.”

You will see seniors kayaking Thursday at Park Lake from 1-4pm for the next two weeks.
