Precautions are being taken at west end schools in Lethbridge to ensure the safety of students after a cougar was sighted in the area. On June 18 Lethbridge Police Service received a report of a cougar in the Indian Battle Heights subdivision. Police along with Lethbridge Fish and Wildlife officers have been unable to locate the animal. And out of an abundance of caution Lethbridge School Division Board Chair Allison Purcell schools are keeping students inside and alerting parents. Purcell says the precautions at the schools will remain in place until the division is advised by Police and Fish and Wildlife officials that it is safe to resume normal operations.
