SCAN shutters north Lethbridge home over drug activity
A north Lethbridge home has been fenced off after it was issued a closure notice due to continuous illegal drug activity.
The property at 1226 13 Avenue north began receiving complaints back in March of 2025, before members of Alberta Sheriffs’ Safer Communities and Neighbourhoods (SCAN) began observing drug activity. Lethbridge Police arrested four people back in May of 2025 and seized drugs and drug paraphernalia following a search warrant.
Despite warnings to the owner, activity continued and SCAN received a Community Safety Order back on June 30th to close the property.
The Acting Inspector for SCAN, Brent Pickard, recognizes the house’s proximity to the nearby St. Paul School has become a serious safety concern throughout the community. “We actually identified people from this property in the school yard with kids around.”
“The reason we seek a 90-day closure of the property is our hope that it breaks the cycle of people coming and going from the property, as well as drug activity and the drug subculture that’s been associated with this property.”
As of Tuesday, the home is closed for 90 days until October 5th, with conditions remaining in place for two years afterwards.
