Samaritans Purse providing aid following deadly earthquake in Turkey
Emotions are running high in Turkey and Syria following a deadly earthquake that took place earlier this week. Samaritans Purse is doing what it can to help bring aid to those who need it the most. Help was sent right away from Samaritan’s Purse following the quake. David Bock with the organization explains just some of the devastation that occurred as well as what they are doing to help out.
“Widespread devastation. Definitely there’s some concerns as far as the health infrastructure, hospitals have been destroyed, and we’re just seeing just a very broad impact on the entire community. We deployed an emergency field hospital, so we’re in the process of that. A chartered seven four seven will leave Atlanta tomorrow night. It’s carrying over 90 metric tons, so focused on the Emergency Field Hospital, but also bringing some of those key relief items, our shelter tarp for communities, as well as hygiene kits to support people as they’re trying to get back into life and those kind of key things for supporting people to survive by this disaster,” said David Bock, Acting International Disaster Response Director, Samaritan’s Purse Canada.
Following the initial earthquake, there were multiple aftershocks which devastated the area even more affecting more than 23 million people.
