Samaritan’s Purse bringing in emergency field hospital for Ukraine
Christian organization, Samaritan’s Purse Canada, is ready to deploy some much needed help to both Poland and Ukraine. Disaster response specialists including eight Canadians have been on the ground in Poland, Romania and Moldova since last week conducting needs assessments and preparing a strategic response. The organization has distributed over 20 tons of food to refugees in the regions. Samaritan’s Purse will also be bringing in an emergency field hospital and a team of doctors, nurses, and support staff to Poland. The field hospital will then be transported over to Ukraine to provide trauma care for those impacted by the war.
“This unit is going to have the capacity to treat more than 100 patients per day and it will be made up of 30 inpatient beds an operating theatre and an intensive care unit. We’re speaking about 25 tons of hospital equipment, generators, flooring, and all that sort of thing that’s on its way to Poland and then on to Ukraine.”
Starting next week, a cargo plane will distribute additional parts for the emergency field hospital and the equipment needed to bring two additional medical clinics. These clinics will be deployed to areas with an influx of refugees.
