Regional farmers rejoice over heavy rain event
Despite some inconveniences due to heavy rainfall over the past few days, farmers are calling the rain event a ‘Godsend’ after the previous hot weather began to dry up moisture from dry land crops.
With the recent rain, farmers are now optimistic for an abundant harvest this year, with nearly all seeding done to this point and plenty of irrigation available from mountain snowpack alone.
Trevor Deering with Farming Smarter says while some flooding has been reported in low-lying parts of some fields, he says it’s at least better to have that than deal with no rain.
