Recent study reports on dating violence in teen relationships
Dating as a teenager is exciting. You meet new friends and even start romantic relationships. There are dangers, however, in the dating world. According to a recent study conducted by Statistics Canada, there is a high percentage of dating violence against teens aged 15 to 17 in Canada. The research indicates that emotional violence is the most common when teens are dating. Kristine Cassie, CEO with Chinook Sexual Assault Centre in Lethbridge, says teens can also fall victim to sexual assault. According to Stats Canada around 45 per cent of teens, aged 15 to 17, experienced dating violence. Emotional abuse was the most common form of violence, followed by physical violence and sexual violence
