Petition created for outdoor sports court in Lethbridge
A petition has been created in Lethbridge for the city to fund a multi use outdoor sports court. The proposed item was at an Economic Standing Policy Committee meeting, which was received as information back on March 24.
The court, which may double as a rink, would be funded through the city’s capital improvement program (CIP) and would be built on the south-east corner of 9 Avenue and 28 Street. The petition was created to show council why the project was needed.
“The (biggest) benefit of this is the unstructured play for kids, to be able to go out and gather with their friends anytime…and play any sport that they’d like,” says creator of the petition, Dave Sehn.
The final decision for the project will be announced between May 10 and 14.
