One person critically injured during Monday house fire
One person is in hospital following a house fire on 20th Street North in Lethbridge on Monday. Lethbridge Fire say it happened in the 2400 block at around 6:40 p.m. Shawn Folk, Platoon Chief with Lethbridge Fire, says the victim was transported to hospital in critical condition.
“We tagged a hydrant and crews went in and do a primary search and fire suppression, and they found somebody on the second floor. Middle aged gentleman, unconscious. He was extricated out of the building and taken right to an EMS unit. And there, medical care was given to him, taken to the hospital, got him to the hospital, still with vitals and sustaining life, unconscious. Once he got there, they stabilized him as best they could,” said Shawn Folk, Platoon Chief, Lethbridge Fire & EMS.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Damages are estimated to be around $500,000.
