LFES contains accidental apartment fire

Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services crews from five stations responded to a fire at an apartment complex at 1411 Ashgrove Road South on Friday morning.

Just before 9 a.m., crews responded to a fire at a unit on the third floor and evacuated all residents in the building. Firefighters quickly knocked down the fire and contained it to the room of origin.

No injuries were reported. Residents have since been allowed back in and reports from them say the cause was kitchen related.

Damage is estimated at $500,000 and the cause was determined as accidental. LFES reminds residents to check their smoke alarms regularly.
