Lethbridge woman receives 10 years for stabbing incident

A Lethbridge woman who stabbed a hostage multiple times last year was sentenced to 10 years in prison in Lethbridge court.

In July of 2022 Courtney Louise Shaw went into Lethbridge Legal Guidance and asked to speak to a lawyer. She was told the attorney wasn’t available and that’s when she pointed a firearm at two employees and threatened to kill them.

She then took worker Kathryn Linder hostage and stabbed her in the neck numerous times. Linder miraculously survived the whole ordeal.

Shaw pleaded guilty last month to several charges including pointing a firearm, using a firearm while committing an offence, taking a hostage and aggravated assault.

She was given 628 days credit against her sentence for the time she has already served.
