Ukraine Solidarity Rally to take place in Lethbridge February 26

Lethbridge City Hall will play host to a Ukraine Solidarity Rally on Saturday morning at 11am. Event organizer, Devon Hargreaves, is inviting people to bring a Ukrainian flag or sign to show support for Ukranians dealing with the Russian invasion. Lethbridge Mayor Blaine Hyggen says this is a vital way to show solidarity.

“One of the first thing when we’d seen this- you know what was happening over there my heart goes out to all of those here locally that have family back there. As well as just our community and our support for Ukraine. We did have a request regarding lighting of City Hall. Unfortunately I had requested to have that done, but we have an issue with our lighting for City Hall. We’re looking into all other options at this time and I’m hoping to have something back sooner than later.”

In 1991, Canada became the first western nation to recognize Ukraine’s independence from the former Soviet Union.
