The province announced that more than 820 million dollars in infrastructure funding will be going to Lethbridge and other Alberta municipalities during the 2025-2026 period. That represents an increase of around 13 per cent compared to the 2024 budget. This amount is provided through the provincial funding formula and will allow the city to plan more effectively for the future. That means that when provincial revenues increase, municipal funding increases at the same percentage. Lethbridge city officials released a statement which in part read that the municipality is estimated to receive capital funding of 14.2 million dollars in 2025. They say, however: “In the future starting in approximately 2027, the City’s capital budget will encounter pressures for capital investment, therefore projects will need to be prioritized.”
