Lethbridge Soup Kitchen increases capacity

Another organization that has seen an increase in the number of homeless people is the Lethbridge Soup Kitchen. In an effort to serve more clients, the kitchen’s capacity must be increased from 180 to 225 guests. The organization’s executive director, Bill Ginther, explained that six months ago they realized the number of meals was increasing, so they decided to be proactive. Ginther said the expansion, which began in mid-May, would be completed by the end of August.

Currently, there are 90 chairs, serving 180 guests per hour, with each guest using a chair for 30 minutes. Adding 36 more chairs will serve an additional 72 guests per hour.

The Lethbridge Soup Kitchen has been serving meals to guests for the past 39+ years and will continue to do so as long as there is a need.
