Lethbridge rally calls for water protection over coal mining
Recent measures by the provincial government, including coal mining, have drawn the community’s attention. Today, a rally was held by the Lethbridge Raging Grannies, along with other community organizations. Barb Phillips says they advocate for water protection, not coal mining in the Eastern Slopes of the Rocky Mountains. The demonstrations happened on the north side of the city and aim to raise awareness about key concerns affecting Albertans.
She says this week’s rally focused on water, not coal. Next week will focus on immigration, followed by recent changes to the Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped (AISH). The final week will address changes to the Alberta Disability Assistance Program.
