Lethbridge Polytechnic to launch Pre-Veterinary Medicine diploma
Southern Alberta will now have a program for students who want to become veterinarians. Lethbridge Polytechnic is offering a new Pre‑Veterinary Medicine diploma program, set to begin in Fall 2026.
Over the course of the program, students will take specialized courses in animal genetics, biochemistry, anatomy, physiology, and nutrition. Dr. Kevin Smith, Dean of the Centre for Business, Arts and Sciences, says this diploma program will give students the 10-course requirement they need to apply to the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program at the University of Calgary.
Students can also continue directly into Lethbridge Polytechnic’s Bachelor of Agriculture Sciences post-diploma degree, prepare for the Medical College Admission Test, or enter the workforce in roles such as laboratory assistant, animal researcher, livestock technician, or animal nutrition consultant.
