Lethbridge Police Service to launch body-worn cameras next year

Starting next year, front-line officers with the Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) will begin wearing body-worn cameras, a move driven by a provincial mandate aimed at increasing transparency and public trust in law enforcement. LPS Chief Shahin Mehdizadeh says what this represents for the city. Says which is the benefit for using the body cams.

The approved funding will come from the Municipal Revenue Stabilization Reserve as a one-time allocation, net of any grants received, as follows: Up to 555,000 dollars in 2025, and up to 914,000 dollars in 2026.
