Lethbridge in dire need of plasma donations

Many people often wonder what the difference is between donating blood versus donating plasma. A special education session was held at SACPA in Lethbridge on Thursday to talk about the subject. BCN’s Micah Quinn chatted with a spokesperson from the Lethbridge Plasma Donor Centre about the importance of donating.

It’s often a topic of confusion when it comes to telling the difference between donating blood and plasma. Brenna Scott works as the business development manager for the Lethbridge Plasma Donor Centre and she helped clear the air for us.

According to Canadian Blood Services there is currently a global need for more plasma donations.

Scott told us over 13,000 units of plasma were collected at the Lethbridge centre in 2022.
