Lethbridge Hurricanes annual Toque & Teddy Bear Toss Friday
The Lethbridge Hurricanes will be hosting their annual Toque and Teddy Bear toss game this Friday night at the ENMAX Centre against the rival Medicine Hat Tigers. This event has been going strong for 26 seasons. When the Hurricanes score their first goal, fans are asked to throw new toques and teddy bears onto the ice. A member of the Canes’ family explains the importance of this initiative.
“We actually took some players and spent time down at My City Care last night helping with giftwrapping and learn a little bit more about their organization and what they do there and how they support families who are in need with providing a gift for their child for the holiday season. They had supported 5,000 children up until last night and they do expect to be supporting quite a few more so I know they’re in need need of toy donations. We’re very happy and fortunate that we can contribute to them in a little bit. And same with Angel Tree. Just how they’re able to help brighten up someone’s holidays this season that might otherwise not have been the happiest one maybe,” said Kathy Hong, Marketing and Community Liaison for the Lethbridge Hurricanes.
The team is hoping for over five thousand teddy bears and toques to be thrown onto the ice at Friday’s game.
