Lethbridge community takes the Polar Plunge over the weekend
Elected officials and some officers of the Lethbridge Police Service took part in the polar plunge for the Special Olympics. After two years of the plunge being held virtually, organizers say they were happy to have a smaller group come out, bear the cold, and take a dip for a good cause. Constable Braylon Hyggen says they have received a number of donations so far.
“Team was just over $2,000 I think we are still a few donations trickling in so we are just about $2,200 for our team thus far. The province has a goal of $100,000 and I think we are over sixty thousand at the moment so that’s not including any of the cash donations that will be coming in, that’s all the online donations, we’re slowly getting there. This will go till middle March, so hopefully, we can meet our goal.”
More information and how to donate can be found on the Special Olympics Alberta website.
