Further speed reductions placed for Whoop Up Drive

If you’re a regular commuter from the city’s west-side, be aware that crews are back on site at Whoop-Up Drive to continue their rehabilitation work.

The City of Lethbridge announced that crews will be pouring high-performance concrete for the bridge’s expansion joints, and to minimize vibration and ensure integrity, a temporary speed reduction of 30 km/h will be in effect for westbound drivers.

The concrete pour will not impact the peak hour lane changes from 2PM to 8PM and motorists are asked to follow all posted signage and exercise caution while crossing. The reduced speed limit is expected to last until this Friday at noon.

While the announcement is unrelated to the damage the bridge sustained when a flatbed trailer struck the underside of the bridge, the restriction on heavy load trucks remains in effect.
