A prominent Lethbridge Pronghorn basketball alumnus has been named to the Alberta Basketball Hall of Fame’s inaugural class.
Shawna Molcak Kolaczek is a four-time Canada West First Team All-Star and three-time All-Canadian at the University of Lethbridge. She is to this day the University’s top scorer. After university, Kolaczek played professionally in Germany and Greece and represented the maple leaf during the 1994 World Championships and the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta.
A native of Cardston, Alberta, Kolaczek recalls pushing past stereotypes that led to her success and hopes to influence future generations.
Kolaczek, alongside nine other women, will be honoured and inducted at the Alberta Basketball Hall of Fame gala on August 29 in Edmonton.
