Poor air quality can affect anyone. Wildfires from AB and BC continue to contaminate our air. According to Dr. Allison Gonsalves, Medical officer with Alberta Health Services, there is no safe limit when it comes to wildfire smoke. Gonsalves says this type of air contains harmful gases and particulate matter. She says many are at risk including those who are pregnant, have chronic medical issues along with infants and those who work outdoors. She describes some of the symptoms you need to watch out for. Emergency officials say there are currently close to 600 wildfires burning in both Alberta and B.C.
