Deploying boots on the ground for Ukrainian refugees

Samaritan’s Purse has deployed boots on the ground in Poland, Romania and Moldova to help out Ukrainian refugees during the war with Russia. The team is conducting rapid needs assessments to determine how the Christian organization can help out with emergency supplies. The News Media Relations Manager for Samaritan’s Purse Canada, Frank King, says there are more than 25 disaster response specialists on the ground including eight Canadians.

“At this point we’re still assessing all the needs and trying to figure out where the refugees are coming to. What exact condition are they in and how long are they going to be there. Those sorts of questions. We’re doing a lot of that kind of work. We’re consulting with governments, church partners and other non-governmental organizations who are also underground in those areas to help the refugees who have come across the border from Ukraine.”

Samaritan’s Purse works with 3,000 churches across Ukraine and is in the process of giving out over 600,000 Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes for kids in need.
