As you have heard on BCN, the Trudeau government will be implementing a GST break for two months beginning on December 14th. Ottawa says prepared foods, snacks, children’s clothing and footwear will be exempt. Also, children’s toys, books, newspapers and Christmas trees. Franco Terrazzano is the federal director of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation, and he says while she GST break is welcomed there doesn’t appear to be much rhyme or reason to it.
