Crews expand work on Scenic Drive downtown

Construction surrounding the Whoop Up Drive and Scenic Drive interchange has entered a new phase.

Work has increased along the eastern lanes of Scenic Drive all the way to 3rd Avenue. The sidewalk and bus stop along the 300 block are closed to pedestrians as it has been stripped by construction crews to add a third lane for northbound motorists. Drivers are asked to use caution and follow posted signage.

The full details of the phase includes:

  • The east sidewalk along Scenic Drive will be closed. A pedestrian detour will be in place.
  • The northbound bus stop in the 300 block of Scenic Drive will be closed. This impacts anyone accessing Route 1 Sherring or Route 2 Southgate. The route will detour to eastbound 4 Avenue South, then to northbound 3 Street South, then resume its normal route along eastbound 3 Avenue. A temporary stop will be located on the east side of 3 Street, between 4 Avenue and 3 Avenue.
  • Access to the Andrew Hilton/Wooden Shoe parking lot, from Scenic Drive, will be closed.

New streetlights are also expected, and both northbound lanes will remain open.

Work continues on the rest of the interchange improvements, including adding a second on-ramp from Scenic Drive S onto westbound Whoop Up Drive. All work is expected to finish in November.
