A Canadian Pacific Kansas City train crashed into a semi-truck trailer that was on the tracks near Taber on Tuesday afternoon. Amateur video shows the locomotive traveling at a high rate of speed crashing into the semi-trailer, splitting it in half.
CPKC confirmed to BCN that the train made contact with the trailer at the Range Road 160 crossing, east of Taber. The train was stopped temporarily but moved on shortly after.
RCMP provided this statement to BCN: “On March 17, 2026, at 2:17 p.m. Taber Vauxhall RCMP responded to a report of a collision with a semi and a train at a railway crossing off of Highway 3 and Range Road 160 near Taber. RCMP have determined that a semi truck was crossing at a low speed when It was struck by a passing train. This did not cause a derailment. There were no serious injuries reported. The semi driver was charged under the traffic safety act for Driving Carelessly.”
