Construction equipment gets wedged underneath Whoop-Up Drive bridge
Drivers in Lethbridge had to suffer through a major traffic headache on Wednesday morning on Whoop Up Drive. At around 9:40 a.m. a truck carrying construction equipment struck the underside of the Whoop-Up Bridge forcing police to shut down the road in both directions. Police, Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services, responded to the scene. Fortunately, no one was injured. It took a couple of hours to get the mess partially cleaned up and traffic flowing again. Whoop Up Drive has been partially re-opened from the off-ramp at south Scenic Drive onto Whoop Up. Police are reminding motorists to drive carefully and follow all posted signage.
