Coaldale Family Fun Run raises $28,000

A total of 400 runners made their way to Coaldale Christian School on April 9 for the 5K Coaldale Family Fun Run. The event combined an in-person run at the school along with a virtual run with 100 participants. Around $28,000 was raised from the event.

The events organizer for the run, Melanie Harthoorn, says, “Two dollars of every entry will go to Rehoboth Christian Ministries here in Coaldale. Serving people with disabilities and helping them to flourish. The rest of the money goes towards community enhancement projects. This year it’s dedicated to converting an old tennis court into a new outdoor hockey rink and basketball area with a walking path and some nice landscaping. Just a great place for kids and adults to get outside and play and to have fun.”

The run’s oldest participant was 76 years old and the youngest was just three.
