City introduces organic waste bins

Organics collection is the last step of the Residential Waste Development Strategy. Earlier this week, Lethbridge City Council approved the 10-thousand dollar project as part of the 2021 to 2031 Capital Improvement Plan. Before bins can roll out in the spring of 2023 however, the city has to build a facility, revamp current trucks and bring in the carts. A city spokesperson says the new green bins will help reduce the city’s waste. The cost of curbside organics collection will increase five dollars per month for single family residence and four dollars per month for multi-family.
