City crews prepared early for the weekend’s heavy rainfall

Summer was welcomed with heavy rain. The storm that hit last weekend left in its wake everything from downed trees to flooding. However, the City of Lethbridge deployed its crews who worked hard during and after the rains to keep the community safe. Lianne Lammertsen, Water and Wastewater Operations Manager for the City of Lethbridge, says the city began preparing for the rain last Tuesday, recognizing that a storm was coming.

Over 44 mm of rain fell on Saturday alone and According to the 311 team, 81 sewer-related and 26 tree-related calls were received during the storm. The 311 team likely received multiple calls for the same issue.
