Canadian Red Cross offers supports to those affected by disaster
The Canadian Red Cross has a reminder about the importance of being prepared for a natural disaster. Through the Red Cross, Canadians have access to a couple of programs if they find themselves involved in a disaster where they will need support.
“One being our personal assistance disaster program. This is a program designed for supporting individuals and families who have experience smaller individual disasters, house fires and that type of a thing. Through the generous donations of the community we are able to provide some immediate financial assistance for folks that have been displaced, food, clothing, and lodging, said Mark Holzer, Provincial Manager of Emergency Management for the Canadian Red Cross.
Holzer says on average the Red Cross responds to personal disasters every three hours here in Canada.
