Canadian Independent Bookstore Day to offer unique prizes
Lovers of books are set for a treat on Saturday. Canadian Independent Bookstore Day offers an opportunity to browse the catalogs of over 120 bookstores in Canada who are offering deals and prizes to give back to the local community. Penny Warris, the owner of Analog Books in Lethbridge, says there is a new wall in the store featuring an abundance of local authors from across southern Alberta.
“One of the best parts of owning the bookstore is we’ve just been overwhelmed by local authors and the support that we’ve got from them and the amazing amount of books that have been written locally, we’ve just been absolutely amazed. We’ve got over 50 authors and about 80 different titles. For Canadian Independent Bookstore Day we thought we’d feature them. We’ve got a big wall of them and most of them are faced out. Just in the past few days it’s already been very popular, so we look forward to that.”
Warris states that Analog Books organized a bookstore crawl along with Big John’s Books and Echo Books, “If you go to all three stores you’ll get a custom bookmark that has all three of the stores on it.”
Customers at Big John’s will get 15 per cent off and Echo will provide a gift box with smarties inside. You will also get your choice of a book that’s been wrapped up, called ‘Blind Date With A Book.’
Each store will have custom prizes and swag giveaways. Food will also be a staple on Saturday. For fans of prize wheels, Analog Books will have one on display and you can win a discount if you land on the right spot. If you purchase anything from the store you will be entered into a draw to win 20 per cent off at Analog Books for a whole year.
