Alberta Rotary teams donating service vehicles to Mexico

Rotary club members who are part of the ‘Los Amigos Project’ are on their way to Mexico – but it’s not to vacation in the sun…it’s to donate service vehicles to communities who are in desperate need of help.

The crew, consisting of Rotary members from Lethbridge, Olds and elsewhere in southern Alberta, are shipping two fire trucks and three handicapped buses, alongside firefighting equipment and bicycles, all which have been acquired by fundraising. Four fire trucks from a group in Grand Prairie are now also enroute.

The group left Lethbridge early Sunday morning and is expected to reach the US-Mexico border by Thursday. Instead of heading straight into Mexico this year due to safety concerns, the convoy will meet Mexican Rotary teams in Nogales, Arizona to hand off the vehicles and supplies.
