Safe Kids Week highlights ongoing speeding concerns near schools

Safe Kids Week kicked off in Lethbridge today. While Safe Kids Week is reminding drivers to slow down and stay alert, officials say this is something motorists should keep in mind year-round because children move quickly and unpredictably.

The annual awareness campaign designed to highlight predictable and preventable injuries among children.

Muhammad Qasim with the City of Lethbridge says statistics from a 2025 transportation study show speeding remains a significant concern in school and playground zones.
