Pink-Shirt-Day promotes kindness at Fleetwood Bawden Elementary School

Today is Pink Shirt Day across the country. The anti-bullying campaign began at a Nova Scotia school in 2007. Students donned pink shirts to support a fellow student who was being bullied. Years later, the day is now used to promote kindness and inclusion.

Here in Lethbridge, students at Fleetwood-Bawden Elementary School have been working on a project throughout the month if February. Teacher and counselor Alexann Mulner, says students understand this is not something to keep in mind just one day of the year, but every single day.

A 2025 Raising Canada report found that about 71% of youth aged 12 to 17 reported experiencing some form of bullying, and about 25 % said they experienced cyberbullying.
