Lethbridge Police Service release Community Survey results
Over 80 per cent of respondents say they are satisfied with the Lethbridge Police Service. That’s according to the Lethbridge Police 2023 Community Survey. It was completed over the summer and information from residents was collected based on their perceptions of the LPS. Around 14 per cent, however, say they are dissatisfied with the service, and police chief Shahin Mehdizadeh says a lot of the dissatisfaction from residents has to do with what’s going on in the city.
“We are not the only community. When you look at opioid crisis, drug issues, homelessness and some of the stuff that actually make the community feel less safe in their own city contribute to those. But we’ve also heard from the citizen some of the issues have to do with response time for some calls from the police service. And obviously we are trying to recruit people and get our resources up to par and we have many efforts on that front.”
Chief Mehdizadeh says property and drug crime are some of the top policing priorities right now.
