Youth One offers new program for youth

Youth One has officially launched an expansion of its site which includes a new after-school sports program. The program is aimed at organizing pick up sports and officials say it was developed after there was a need for kids who wanted to play sports but either didn’t have access to them or couldn’t afford to play them.

“It was a need that we were asked, and so we tried to fill that. It gets us really excited because we know that youth really thrive when they have opportunities to engage in sport, and it gives them that social context to engage with their peers. But then we try to provide a safe place for that to happen as well. So when we bring in our volunteers and our team members, we set up a space where anyone can come and play and enjoy whichever game we’re playing.”

The program caters to youths 11 to 18 and will be available Monday to Thursday from 3 to 5 p.m.
