Whoop Up Drive rehabilitation causes lane closures & detours

For commuters in Lethbridge, the city has begun bridge rehabilitation work on Whoop Up Drive today that will result in lane closures and detours until the end of September.

Westbound traffic will be redirected around the two inner lanes that have closed for work. Those coming from 6 Avenue South will be diverted across the median to an alternate lane, and traffic from southbound Scenic Drive lanes will use the outer westbound lane Whoop-Up Drive. The northbound Scenic Drive exit to Whoop-Up has closed for the duration of the work.

Additionally, the Whoop-Up Drive exit to northbound University Drive will not be accessible to westbound traffic coming from 6 Avenue South. Drivers are asked to follow all posted signage and speed limit changes.

The rehabilitation work is part of the city’s Capital Improvement program which follows last year’s rehabilitation work to enhance the long-term safety, reliability and durability of Whoop-Up Drive.
