Village of Stirling assisting with Alberta wildfire effort

The Village of Stirling is contributing to the provincial wildfire fighting effort. Responding to a call from Alberta Wildfire, the Village has deployed their Wildland Unit which it is on its way to the Jasper area.

Stirling firefighters Domanick Mrak and Andre Thibaudeau along with two members from the Nobleford fire department left late last night.

Stirling Mayor Trevor Lewington says the Wildland Unit is a specialized truck which is well suited to working in difficult terrain.

This is the second straight year that Stirling has contributed to the provincial firefighting effort. Last year the Wildland Unit along with local firefighters were in the Edson area for about a month.
