Two Lethbridge park playgrounds undergoing replacement

The City is currently undergoing work to replace and upgrade two park playgrounds.

The playground at Lafayette Park, currently fenced off and dismantled.

The previous grounds at Couger Park in the north and Lafayette in the west have reached their lifespan and will be replaced to meet new CSA‑compliant modern safety standards.

Each playground will include the following upgrades:

Cougar Park

The new playground equipment is designed for children aged two to 12 years old. It will introduce a variety of exciting new challenges and play experiences that modern equipment provides. We’re also refreshing the existing pea gravel surface.

A new solar light will shine on the southwest side of the playground. It will enhance safety and comfort for all playground users.

Lafayette Park

The new playground equipment is designed for children aged 18 months to five years old. The inclusive space will include accessible components and artificial turf surfacing to accommodate users of all abilities. This is the first playground in Lethbridge to include artificial turf. Benefits include safety, low maintenance and durability.

The public are asked to keep away from the sites while they’re fenced. Both playground projects are scheduled to finish by mid-June.
