Thanksgiving weekend need for plasma donations

Canadian Blood Services is hoping you will give a part of yourself for the upcoming Thanksgiving weekend. The company is in dire need of plasma, blood and platelet donations. Here in Lethbridge, the Plasma Donor Centre needs a high number of appointments to be filled as we get set to gobble down on some delicious turkey.

“This weekend is a really important one. Thanksgiving, like a lot of our long weekends, is often harder for us to collect donations. People are out of town, they’re busy with their family. We do see donations at a lower amount, and we do have 113 open appointments between Friday and Saturday that do need to be filled. You know, we’re really thankful for the Lethbridge community for the ongoing support of our plasma centre. So we hope that we can count on them once again to kind of rise to the challenge. Bring some family members, bring a friend out and come in and donate plasma,” says Brenna Scott, the Business Development Manager for the Lethbridge Plasma Donor Centre.

Officials from Canadian Blood Services say thousands more new blood and plasma donors are needed across the country.
