Students are expected to return to school at the beginning of next week, as the Alberta government plans to introduce the legislation on Monday that would require classes to restart.
It has now been 19 days since the teachers’ strike began, and still no agreement has been reached. BCN caught up with the President of the Alberta School Councils’ Association (ASCA), Ken Glazebrook, who shared some comments on this potential back-to-work legislation.
Fifty-one thousand teachers have been on strike. One of the big issues is class sizes. The Alberta Teachers’ Association says the government so far has refused to put student-teacher ratios into a new contract.
