Solar projects under development advancing its energy capacity

The corporation responsible for the current development of two solar projects near Lethbridge is advancing each project’s energy output capacity.

The Lethbridge Two and Three Solar Fields will be constructed in Lethbridge County, two kilometres south of the city airport. Led by NU E Power Corp and approved by the Alberta Utilities Commission, the advancement will see a combined raised 167 megawatts of its renewable energy capacity. NU E Power additionally runs the Lethbridge One solar project which began production in 2024.

Lethbridge Three is aimed to be the larger of the two newest projects, with the intention of supporting long-term power offtake, data center, and industrial demand. The President of NU E Power, Broderick Gunning says that battery energy storage is expected to play a big role, which would “unlock more value from every megawatt developed”.

Lethbridge Two and Lethbridge Three are expected to be constructed this year once they acquire a development permit and proper rezoning.
