Search ends for Darius Macdougall but investigation continues

The tireless search for 6-year-old Darius Macdougall reached its 11th day today. Despite the relentless efforts of search and rescue teams, authorities now believe that Darius is no longer alive, however, the search for answers is not over. The investigation remains active and ongoing.

The search and rescue operation, led by Alberta RCMP and supporting agencies, was officially demobilized today, and no longer on scene from 1:00 PM and the search area has now been reopened to the public.

Assisting RCMP were drones, helicopters, forensic and identification services, police dog services, the general investigation section, underwater search team, and tactical support group.

Heidi was born in Bogota, Colombia and lived there until she was 18, then she moved to Caracas, Venezuela where she finished her bachelor's degree in journalism. Since 2010 she covered political issues related to the government of former president Hugo Chávez and his political opponents, management, death and transition to a new government. Heidi also has a diploma in Addictions and Community Health. In 2024, she joined at Bridge City News team as a Video Journalist to produce a wide range of stories including those which are faith based glorifying Jesus Christ.
