Ronald McDonald House comfort cart at Chinook Hospital

Families seeking care for their child at Chinook Regional Hospital have recently started seeing a rolling cart moving through the hallways five days a week. It’s the Comfort Cart from Ronald McDonald House, which brings hospitality and emotional support right to patients’ bedsides.

The initiative began a couple of weeks ago. The cart moves between the prenatal clinic, NICU, pediatric, maternity/child, and labour and delivery units, offering a variety of items designed to make hospital stays a little easier for families.

Comfort items include snacks, coffee, reading materials, activity books, and hygiene products such as toothbrushes. The operating cost of the Comfort Cart is estimated at about $10,000 a year.
