Online convention to highlight nerd culture

Fans of all things nerdy will gather online for the Bunka Hashi, Nerdy Christmas In July. The convention will feature anime, cosplay, and video games in a virtual artist alley and vendors room. The Chair of the Bunka Hashi Organizing Committee, Jonathan Neilson, says the group has reached out to the artists and vendors to get them to participate online.

The group has been running smaller events as well. Including a cosplay club, an anime showing through Discord, and online gaming and trivia contests.

The website will be up for a few more weeks after the event is done.

Neilson says the day of the event will be an interactive experience, “We’re planning on live-streaming some content. We’ll start around 2-3 in the afternoon. We’re still finalizing the schedule, and that will come out shortly. It will be a combination of Q&A panels with artists and vendors. Some artists are going to prerecord their artistic process.”

The group is looking for volunteers to help run the event on July 24th.
