New solar facility near Burdett up and running

The city of Medicine Hat pulled the plug on a $12-million concentrated solar power facility in 2019 after operating it for around five years. Officials said the small and unreliable contribution to the community’s power needs did not justify the cost of the project. Well, fast forward a couple of years. The Enbridge Alberta Solar One project started construction last fall, and now the facility near Burdett, Alberta is fully operational. The 10.5-megawatt solar facility came at a cost of $20-million and will bring energy to thousands of homes. Micah Quinn has the details.
