New roll shutter artwork brings public art to downtown Lethbridge

If you’re passing through downtown Lethbridge and see artwork covering businesses’ security roll shutters, you’re seeing the ‘Art After Hours’ program. The initiative transforms commercial shutters into temporary public artworks, helping keep the streets visually active after businesses close while supporting local artists and creating a more vibrant downtown.

Launched in 2025, the pilot demonstrated how closed commercial surfaces can become visible, engaging public art after hours.
