Missing Child in Calgary: Police ask residents to check yards and sheds

Mounties on Sunday joined an ever-expanding search for 11-year-old Parker of Calgary. Normally, the child’s disappearance would not meet the legal criteria for An Amber Alert, but one was issued Saturday after the province granted an exemption because of the unique circumstances of this investigation. Concerns over the welfare of Parker, a non-verbal autistic boy last seen in Cambrian Heights on Thursday are mounting.  Police believe the boy may be hiding in yards or in structures, and the use of playing Parker’s favourite music during the search efforts are intended to hopefully draw him out. Parker is also known to walk into structures and close doors behind him. At a Sunday news conference, CPS Acting Staff Sgt. Scott Guterson provided details of how civilians can help the search.
